Ho Hum Beads

I've been messing around on the torch making beads, but I haven't been very happy with the results. Either my torch needs cleaning, my gas tank needs purging, or I need to combine different colors of glass. I've made beads with these colors successfully in the past, though. Eh. Oh well. Even a bad day of bead making is better than most days.

And now I have another handful of beads for my dud jar.

Poo is Special too

Once upon a time there was a little dog turd...

For real.

And it's available to view instantly on Netflix. I am SO gonna watch it. {insert Beavis and Butthead laughter here}

Yes, actually, I am a ten-year-old boy.

Nuggets from Pebbles

I just wanted to share a couple of adorable and hilarious things Pebbles has said lately.

Gomez went into her room at bedtime to tell Pebbles to settle down, and when he left she said, in a sing-songy voice, "Well, I can do whatever I want because it's. my. life."

Gidget heard her and told Gomez, so he went back into the bedroom and said in an equally sing-songy way, "You're lucky you didn't say that when I was in the room because your. butt. would. be. restricted."

Then Pebbles said (in the same sing-songy voice. You really had to be there.), "Well, I'm never gonna say it again."

*#**#**#**#**#**#**#*#*#**#**#*#*#**#**#*

This morning Pebbles crawled into bed with me, and she said, "You have a kiss on your nose."

"I do?"

"Yes, I put kisses on everyone's pillows last night, including mine. Pretty sneaky, huh?"

Downtown

My mom and dad are in Minnesota, so I recorded a song for them. Of course, when I tried to call them to let them know I got sent to voice mail. My only source of information as to how their trip is going is my relatives on Facebook.

One of the reasons I record so many songs on Singsnap is for my dad and my grandma. Last year when I went to visit my grandma I showed her the website and bought her a pair of headphones so she could listen. She was so impressed. (She doesn't have an iPod, so impressing her with my recordings was pretty easy. Ha!) She checks in all the time to see what new recordings I have up.

My dad also checks. He doesn't tell me this, my mom does. He's never been one to hand out praise, so I hold onto those little things that say so much. Recently, my mom told me he was up late at night listening to one recording of mine after another. He's trying to figure out how to download my songs and put them on CD's, so he can listen to them easier. For this reason, I make a point of recording sappy oldies. (I promise it is not because I love sappy oldies. Okay, maybe I do. Just a little bit.)

,...Aaaand I'm going to sing that song tonight at karoake. It's gonna rock the house because everyone loves it when I sing sappy overly optimistic oldies. Okay, maybe not, but what's great is I can be a total geek and my friends make me feel like it's the coolest thing in the world to be that way. So while everyone else sings cool stuff, I can throw in a "Hopelessly Devoted to You" or something by The Carpenters and get high fives and "You RAWKS!" like I just sang something by Metallica or Daughtry, which, by the way, I intend to do one of these days. It'll be lame, but everyone will pretend like it's the greatest song I ever did.

Highlights from the Drive-in

We had a Star Trekkie great time at the drive-in on Friday night, and I thought I'd share some pictures:

First, a stop at Burger King for dinner.

After waiting in line at the drive-in, finally we are in and we can set up our space for maximum entertainment. The snacks are ready! I'm sort of not proud to admit that I love cheese in a can, but I do. There! I said it. It's a piece of my childhood, and a drive-in wouldn't feel right without cheese in a can and Chicken in a Biskit.

Ahhh, more waiting...Will the sun ever go down? My girls think, no.

Tabitha and Pebbles entertain themselves in the back of the van while they wait.

Finally the movie begins!

But Tabitha and Pebbles would rather play their Nintendo DS's and giggle in the back.

Gomez and I loved the movie! So much so, in fact, that we decided to take our mothers, who are both avid Trekkies to see it for Mother's Day. The moms were so excited, and they loved the movie too. My mom cried at the end, tears of joy. It was sweet. Gomez said he thought his mom was crying too. That was pretty cool.

If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend you do. Definitely worth the price of admission.

Parties and Drive-Ins

Opie is having another party tonight, so Gomez, Tabitha, Pebbles, and I need to make ourselves scarce. It's times like this when it would be nice to have a bigger house. When I was in high school I had lots of parties at my house. My friends and I could have the family room to ourselves. It was stocked with a fridge, microwave, stereo, VCR, and ATARI! My family had the rest of the house, and we never saw them. Of course, I didn't have two much younger sisters to get in my hair, just one who was only a year younger than I, who had absolutely no desire to spend time with me and my friends.

I could ask my mom if Tabitha and Pebbles could spend the night over there, and Gomez and I could go out, but they've already spent the night with Grandma twice this month, and I hate to impose. I know my mom would graciously say, "Of course," but I think we'll try to find something we can all do together.

There is still a drive-in in the area. The last one of it's kind in these parts. When Gomez and I were new parents we discovered that was a great way to have a date. Pack the kids in the back seat with jammies, pillows, blankies, and snacks, and watch a double feature. The kids were usually asleep halfway through the first movie, and we were able to spend the rest of the time enjoying the movie. Or enjoying not watching the movie.

Nothing good is playing at the drive-in, though, so we'll have to figure something else out. Maybe we'll go hang out with friends or bug some relatives.

Update: The drive-in it is! New shows start tonight, and we're going to see Star Trek. The girls aren't that interested in the movie, but they were thrilled when I told them I'd put the seats down in the back of the van, and they could make it into their own little nest of fun.
